Scientific developments and technological advancements in all avenues of life have become so prolific that each day witnesses a multitude of inventions and innovations/novelties for the benefit of mankind. Such innovations have not only made life easier for the young and healthy, but also for those who are physically incapacitated / indisposed owing to various ailments. It is, therefore, because of such gadgets/novelties that blind, crippled, and deaf & dumb are able to make their lives worth living to a considerable extent, even if not fully.
One such recent innovation is the electric mobilityscooter, which has made it possible for the elderly and even those affected with ‘paralytic stroke' or ‘morbid hardening of the arteries of the lower limbs' to move from one place to another with comparative ease. The freedom of movement provided by these battery operated and easily maneuverable vehicles is something commendable. Looking to the plight of the physically handicapped persons a few years back - who could only move around on their manually operated wheel-chairs in a limited space and that too, if they had strong arms to move the wheels - the advent of the electric mobility scooter certainly appears to be more of a miracle.
Here are some of the advantages of an electric mobility scooter:
Cheap to Operate & Maintain:
Electric mobility scooters are cheaper to operate and are practically maintenance free as they are run by rechargeable batteries. Such batteries can be easily charged after a couple of hours of driving with the help of the built-in charger by connecting the provided plug to your household electricity outlet. In comparison, the gasoline run motors are likely to encounter engine problems, require regular maintenance and are, therefore, expensive to operate.
Independence for the Elderly & Disabled:
Electric mobility scooters are comfortable to sit in and easy to operate. They are ideal for elderly people, those handicapped (who could be young or old) and even those with obesity problem (up to 250 pounds) to move about with ease and confidence. Such scooters are either 3 wheelers or 4 wheelers – depending upon the roads, grounds and pavements on which they are to operate. 4 wheelers are usually suitable for operation in areas with uneven roads and pavements.
Noiseless/Silent:
Electric scooters are virtually noiseless and have an additional advantage of not emitting any poisonous gas, such as, carbon monoxide-which the gasoline operated vehicles do. Electric scooters are, therefore, ideal for maintaining peaceful environment of places like the malls, airports and even within the homes.
Require Little or No Effort to Use:
To move about in a manual wheel chair from one place to another, the operator must be endowed with strong arms to achieve his/her objective – and in some cases, the experience could be quite tiring/exhausting. Electric mobility scooters have found solution to this problem and even people with feeble physical constitution can now operate them with relative ease.
Environmentally Friendly:
The electric mobility scooters are ideally environmentally friendly as they are operated on batteries and are, therefore, both noise free and pollution free.

Though the engineering does not appear to be so, a 3-Wheel travelscooter offers unsurpassed balance and it meets the users' everyday needs. Those who have to use mobility devices for one reason or another have one health problem or another and it is essential that they have a mobility device that can serve them well in the long run. Some users opt for wheelchairs because they are low maintenance and some must be pushed by another individual. Others choose four-wheel scooters because it provides the look that it's balanced and has a good knack at going faster than other scooters. However, one thing that is overlooked with three-wheel scooters is the ability to be balanced all the while providing excellent comfort.
Just looking at it, it does not appear to maintain that balance one needs while riding. Once ridden, it will become evident that the structured engineering makes the 3-wheel scooter a joy to ride. Everyone, regardless of the situation, needs to have active mobility – and it needs to be accessible and easy to travel with. You get that and much more with a 3-wheel scooter.
One area where four-wheel scooter users will encounter problems is with turning and navigating through smaller spaces. It is effective when turning because it leads with the front wheels. Effectively there is less bulk to turn on a three-wheel. With four-wheel scooters the turning is much wider because of a wider front end. You know what it's like when you are in a car and you have to get through tighter spaces by turning, pulling forward slightly, then going in reverse for a brief period before repeating those steps again. With the three-wheel scooter that is limited, if not eliminated completely. It is especially helpful when you find yourself in places such as the hospital, grocery stores, medical facilities, schools and parks.
No matter where one has to go with it, a three-wheel travel scooter offers better maneuverability. It is far easier to maneuver a three-wheel because, while balanced, it is lighter in front end and requires less energy to navigate it. This applies to any terrain. The terrain can be bumpy or it can be smooth. The maneuverability will be just as good.
When it comes to discussion about four-wheel scooters versus three-wheel scooters, it often centers on power and balance. Now that the balance issue has been discussed, it is time to discuss the power aspect of the three-wheel scooter.
Whether it's the Falcon 3-Wheel or the Shoprider Echo Scooter – and anything in between, the aerodynamic features give the scooters much more power. When moving forward the more aerodynamic a scooter is the more power it gives when travelling. Much of this is a result of a nimbler front end that diverts any pressure to the sides of the scooter. With bulkier front-end scooters like four-wheel scooters, the pressure while moving forward is often absorbed giving it less power. Power is not measured by how fast it goes or how much horsepower it yields. It is measured by its aerodynamic properties that enable the scooter to handle wind speeds and the outside environments without slowing down or losing energy. On the whole, a three-wheel scooter is more powerful and much more nimble than other mobility devices.
It is the perfect scooter that will meet users' everyday needs.
Is there a place I can rent a motor scooter around Pittsburgh, PA for a few days and go to Washington DC?
Me and my mom decided we want to take a trip to Washington DC on motor scooters from Pittsburgh. Is there a place we can rent them for seveal days for a long trip like that? Do we need a motorcycle license?
You cannot travel from Pittsburgh to Washington on a motor scooter. Motor scooters have a top speed of 35 mph and are therefore not permitted on highways or interstates.

I press the Start button and absolutely nothing happens. No matter what position the ignition switch is in nothing. I press the button, and it doesn't even attempt to turn over. I really need this fixed because my scooter has no kick start. It's a Honda Elite 80
are you pulling the brakes on..
there is an isolator switch on the brake levers which prevents you running over yourself. with the key on you pull both brake levers and then press the start button.
If there are no lights on on the bike and the indicators don't work then you have an electrical failure
If the battery is charged and the lights ( not main it works only on the generator) work. and if you press the starter you just get a CLUNK or the lights dim.. your engine is seized, likely no 2 stroke oil either..
