I need a charger for my mobilityscooter on the charger it says 230v 50hz 180w 1.27a Fuse T5 ah 24vdc 5a. I have seen one for sale which says 24vdc / 5a and input 115 / 230 vac would i be able to use this charger on my scooter thanks for any help.
Mike.
What i am saying is my mobility scooter charger has stopped working the description on the charger i have reads. 230v / 50hz 180w 1.27A fuse T5AH 24VDC 5A. I have seen one on ebay for sale and it is advertised as mobility scooter charger output is 24 VDC / 5A and input is 115 / 230 VAC all i want to know is the one i want to buy compatible with my scooter.
Your question is not clear.
The title "What is the difference between 24 VDC and 24 VAC" says one thing but then the body says something else.
If you aren't clear, you can not substitute something that delivers 24VAC with something that requires 24VDC, or vice-versa.
In your body of you "question" you say "...it says 230v 50hz 180w 1.27a Fuse T5 ah 24vdc 5a. I have seen one for sale which says 24vdc / 5a and input 115 / 230 vac would i be able to use this charger..."
Yes. but you had better make sure what you wrote is what you meant.
>all i want to know is the one i want to buy compatible with my scooter<
It sounds like it is. Both have a 24vdc output at 5 amps. The replacement one appears to be dual voltage, which is good. It will work in the UK or the US.
I'm sorry. I did not realize at first you were in the UK.
When you ge this new charger, look at it carefully and see if it has a switch to change voltages between 115AC in the US and 230VAC in Europe. Typically something with this much power will have a switch. You do not want it to be on 115VAC and plug it into a 230VAC plug int he UK.
My wife burnt out her hair dryer last year in Paris beccause she did not pay attention. Smaller devices can typically be designed to accomodate either voltage without a switch, but that is not the case for something like this.
I have a 24 volt one. I have had the connector changed so it charges my son's 24 volt kids scooter. I would like to add another connector so it charges a different scooter aswell but not sure of the polarity...so it would be 50/50 whether it is connected the right way round. If I did this and it was reversed polarity then would the Mobility scooter charger blow??? or is there protection against this happening built in??? If it were then I could try it without worry, then if need be swap the wires over and get it right second time. Anybody know please?
Ask a friend, neighbour or colleague if they have a multimeter or multitester you can borrow to test the polarity or ask a friendly auto-electricians or RAC patrol or the like. For safetys sake DO NOT GUESS at it. Most items nowadays have a built in protection against reversed polarity but if it has'nt and you connect the wrong way it is a possibility the battery could explode, please Don't Chance It.

Does anyone know the law about riding the electric scooters (the ones with seats, almost like mobility scooters) in Spain. I am planning to buy one for my children for Christmas, but were unsure where they can be ridden. i.e. on roads, cycle paths etc and also the age restrictions. I have seen them being ridden on caravan parks by adults and children of about 14 upwards.

How much does a taxi charge to get from bodrum milas to gulluk? car hire?
Im travelling as a group of 5 adults, 2 infants with 3 bags of luggage and a mobility scooter! Was wondering how much a taxi would charge to get from Milas airport to Gulluk about 15mins away? I read that we could take a bus from the highway, but it's unpractical as we have two very young children and a disabled person travelling with us. We are debating about whether we should take a (couple of) taxis from the airport to the villa in Gulluk or just rent a minivan for the day- but im not sure that if we DO take the minivan, how do we return it? does the car firm guy come collect it from the villa when we are done with it?
Any ideas of the cost of a taxi? - do they have minivans or just cars?
Plus, car hire- what's the cheapest firm anyone reading this has dealt with and can recommend> many thanks, please reply prompty as i have only a couple of days to go before jetting off!
yes they have minibuses and you can also contact them by phone or mail if you have questions.
It could even be wise to inform them in advance about your party and reserve a minibus.
